Instruction and assistance

Ellingham is home to a number of highly qualified and experienced instructors who are qualified specifically to the needs of disabled skiers. These instructors are always available during our organised disabaled events but can also be made avaiable (when required) at other times.  We operate a “buddy” system which could ensure skiers camn ski at anyime ieven if they need assustamnce. The equipment we use is very specilaised and specifically designed for purpose, they include:

The Triple Bar:

The Triple Bar involves two instructors helping the skier (on a pair of skis) get themselves up and out of the water. Once upright they are supported on either side and if possible released.

Begin together
Then gradually separate
You’re on your own now!

Seated skis:

We use a range of seated skis , from the basic canoe type through to high performance hi seated skis.  Our aim is to encourage skiers to try all of the equipment and optimise their performance.  The instructors will always be available to support and assist.

Sitz Ski:

As your skiing develops, this framed seated ski is more reactive and precise. Again we use helpers to get you started, but after you obtain stabilty you may find you can ski independently, and tackle the slalom course with a bit of practice.

In addition, other Disabled facilities include: ·

  • A clubhouse with hot showers, toilets, spacious changing rooms.
  • A car park complete with accessible parking space.
  • Use of wetsuits, life jackets, and ski equipment (such as helmets and goggles).
  • A launch slipway, pontoon dock and hoist.
